Disciplined Listening for Investigators - Three women sitting in an interview.

SMI is excited to partner again with Michael Reddington, Certified Forensic Interviewer and the Vice President of Executive Education for Wicklander-Zulawski & Associates, on a free educational webinar series for our clients. The goal of this three-part series, entitled “Disciplined Listening for Investigators,” is to help attendees improve their interviewing techniques, identify their opposition’s strategies, and influence the outcome of the interaction.

Strategies & Tactics of Dishonest People

Most people prefer not to fabricate a story if they don’t have to. Your interview subjects have a core group of strategies they typically fall back on when they feel like they’ve been, or will be, trapped during an interview. When your subjects use these tactics they may become a road block, distraction, or just what you need to turn the interview around.

Interviewers can increase the amount of truthful information they obtain and reduce the amount of resistance they encounter by preparing for, recognizing and accurately responding to the most common strategies and tactics of dishonest people.

The presenter of this webinar has pre-approved its content for 1-hour* of continuing education credit with the following professional organizations:

*Continuing education credit is only available to attendees of the live presentation and does not extend to any recordings of the webinar.

What Attendees Will Learn

This webinar is intended for an intermediate audience and may build upon concepts discussed in the first presentation of this series, “Identifying the Five Types of Lies.” Attendees will learn strategies from a Certified Forensic Interviewer which will help you :

  1. Recognize and respond to the most common strategies of dishonest people
  2. Reduce the subject’s resistance to your line of questioning
  3. Increase the amount of truthful information provided during the interview
